Dunbar claims national title

Kodiak's Trevor Dunbar won his second national title on Saturday — his first in cross country. Dunbar, a freshman at the University of Portland, breezed to victory in the USA Cross Country National Championships junior race in Spokane, Wash. With the victory, Dunbar qualifies for IAAF World Cross Country Championships as a member of the USA national team in Bydgoszcz, Poland on March 28.

Brad Precosky won his sixth Mount Marathon race Wednesday. The 40-year-old also broke the record for the 40 to 49 age-group, finishing the race in Seward in 46 minutes and 14 seconds.

A Fairbanks high school coach has been suspended after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Doug Herron -- the head cross country running coach at West Valley High -- was arrested by Alaska State Troopers early Saturday morning.
