For the second year in a row, the annual ING Bay to Breakers race saw a world-record run turned in by one of its Kenyan contestants.
Breaking the women's world record for a 12-kilometer run in 38:07, Lineth Chepkurui ran an average mile of 5:07 and was the first female runner to cross the finish line. She beat her own freshly set world record by three seconds, accomplished in her May 2 performance at the Lilac Bloomsday Run in Spokane, Wash.
