In all, 20 of the top 30 teams in both the men's and women's national rankings will be in action at the Pre-National event in either the 'blue', 'white' or open races. Stanford (men) and Washington (women) remain the respective top ranked squads in the USTFCCCA poll.

Kennedy not concerned record isn't his any more

As far as Bob Kennedy was concerned, his record had lasted too long anyway. While track and field can sometimes suffer from too much emphasis on times and not enough on competition, Dathan Ritzenhein's time Friday represented a landmark achievement.Ritzenhein finished third in the 5,000 meters at Zurich, Switzerland, in 12 minutes, 56.27 seconds. That broke the American record of 12:58.21 set by Kennedy, also at Zurich, on Aug. 14, 1996.
