FSU Women Earn Third Consecutive ACC Title While Men Take Third At ACC Championships

The No. 6 ranked Florida State women dominated the 6k run at the WakeMed Soccer Park cross country field Saturday morning with its third-consecutive first place finish at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. Securing three top 10 finishes, including Susan Kuijken’s third consecutive ACC title, and two more ‘Noles in the top 15, FSU scored 37 points to win the crown. Florida State’s men also ran an impressive 8k run, taking third place with a score of 72 points while freshmen Wes Rickman highlighted the day for the ‘Noles as he was named 2009’s ACC Male Freshman of the Year.

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's cross country team won the team title in the college division at the Florida Runners Invitational on Friday at Chain of Lakes Park in Titusville. W. Track. Jeff Chakouian Hired as Assistant Track & Field Coach (UCF Golden Knights)

Jeff Chakouian has been named as an assistant coach with the UCF track & field program, head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert announced Monday. Chakouian has spent the previous three seasons at Illinois State University and will be responsible for working with the throwers at UCF.

After completing a record-breaking college career and winning two bronze medals in the Beijing Olympics, former Florida State superstar sprinter Walter Dix returned to Mike Long Track on Saturday to headline the Seminole Invitational.Since he was here, he went ahead and made some headlines himself by turning in the fastest 100-meter dash time in the world this year at 10 seconds flat -- despite running into a 1.1 mile-per-hour headwind.

Eight Olympians to compete for 15 km title

Defending men's Champion Andrew Carlson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) takes on a field that includes eight Olympians at the USA 15 km Championships this Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. This marks the 16th year that the championships have been hosted by the Gate River Run. Set to challenge Carlson for the title will be 2008 Olympians Jorge Torres (Boulder, Colo.), Ian Dobson (Mammoth Lakes, Calif.), and Anthony Famiglietti (Knoxville, Tenn.) as well as 2004 Olympian and 2000 15 km champion Dan Browne (Beaverton, Ore.).
