Julia Emmons to Retire from the Atlanta Track Club

Facing the fact that there is no Botox cure for her impending 65th birthday, Julia Emmons has informed the Atlanta Track Club Board of Directors of her intentions to retire from her post of the Club's Executive Director, including her duties as race director of the 55,000-runner Peachtree Road Race.

A Brief Chat with Denise Dillon

At the 100th Boston Marathon ten years ago, Denise Dillon and Edgar Walters, who'd met as runners in Knoxville, ran to the 14-mile mile mark in Wellesley and got married, and then proceeded on to complete the race. The couple, who now reside in Kennesaw, Georgia, will return to the 110th Boston Marathon on Patriots' Day.

UGA Cross Country Teams Record Top-Six Finishes at Nike Race of Champions

Despite running in rather dusty conditions, both the University of Georgia men's and women's cross country teams recorded top-six finishes in the Nike Race of Champions at the Great American Cross Country festival in Cary, N.C.

Where are they now? Ryley Miller

It’s been two years since Ryley Miller won the State Cross Country Title, and things are still looking up for the UGA Sophomore. Miller graduated from South Gwinnett High School as the 2003 CC State Champ, with a 5k p.r. of 15:20. He also won the 1600 and 3200 state titles during his senior year, with p.r.’s of 4:15 (for a full mile) and 9:21. In his first year of collegiate running, Ryley had p.r.’s of 25:21 for 8k (set on Arkansas’ home course) and 31:19 for 10k, and ran a 4:10 mile indoors at the SEC Championships, which qualified him for the finals where he placed 9th in 4:13.

North Hall's Grant Russell finished sixth in the state in the 3200 meter run. Russell ran the 3200 meters in 10:24.54. West Hall as a team finished tied for fourth.

Mike Dudley and Anne Riddle win 2004 USA 50 KM Championship Titles

On Sunday, November 14, approximately 50 runners toed the starting line in Peachtree City, Georgia to determine the USATF 50 KM Open, Team and Masters champions. The men's race looked to be a contest between 2:14 marathoner Mike Dudley, 2:24 marathoner Kevin Beck, USA Marathon Trail runner-up Ben Nephew, and reigning 50K road champ Dan Verrington. On the distaff side, Anne Riddle was the clear favorite, fresh off her victory two weeks ago at the USA Marathon trail championships.
