2007 World Outdoor 400m silver medalist LaShawn Merritt won the men's 400 meters in convincing fashion Thursday night in Baie Mahault, Guadeloupe over 2000 Olympic 400m hurdles gold medalist Angelo Taylor and 2008 World Indoor team member David Neville, crossing the finish line in a world-leading 44.34 seconds.

Clear way for Lamar University's Clerc Koenck

She and Stacey Monteau, a friend and teammate on the Lamar women's cross country team, are running the roads. Koenck begins to cross a road when an approaching car unexpectedly veers into a turn lane, rolling over Koenck's left foot. Koenck hit the car with her hand to avoid being knocked down, and the car, populated by what she said looked like college kids, kept on going.

Kip Kangogo wins Red River Run 10k in record 30:16

Kangogo finished the 6.2-mile course, which starts downtown and winds through the Garden District and finishes downtown by City Hall, in 30 minutes, 16 seconds. On a clear, cool morning, he beat the 5-year-old record of 30:32, set in 2002 by Yousri Elmejdoubi, a native of Morocco.
