White Pine High School's new cross country program is seeking community support for its second fund-raiser this summer. The new sport is sanctioned but will be unfunded by the school district at least for the first season. Community support is needed to cover travel expenses for the team.

Joseph Kahugu passed fellow Kenyan Noah Talam during the 14th mile to take control of the men's race and got by female champion Jemima Jelagat with about a half-mile left to win the male-female challenge prize Sunday at the Las Vegas Marathon.

Called the “Silver State" because of its large silver mine industries. Named as the “Sage State” and the “Sagebrush State” for the wild sage that grows there prolifically.
