The Clemson women's track & field team has earned a No. 9 preseason ranking, according to calculations released late Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Texas A&M topped the preseason ranking, followed by Oregon and LSU. On the men's side, Florida State and Florida took the top two spots.

South Carolina assistant track and field coach Jackie Madison will resign her position on October 16, 2009 after two years of service at her alma mater. Madison served as recruiting coordinator and assistant sprints coach under head coach Curtis Frye in her two years after attending the University as an All-American hurdler from 1998-2001.

The South Carolina cross country team has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors after posting the top team GPA in the nation with a 3.767 earned in the fall semester.Head cross country coach Stan Rosenthal's team has consistently excelled in the classroom and has earned the All-Academic Team honor each of the past three seasons.

On Tuesday, December 16, student-athletes from the Clemson track and field teams provided a Christmas dinner for two families in the community. After dinner, the athletes surprised the children with presents. The members of the team donated their own money for the presents, collecting over $600, and then went shopping to purchase gifts for the kids.

Coastal Carolina University men’s and women’s track and field programs have added Zola Budd Pieterse as a volunteer assistant coach, announced by both programs. “We are absolutely thrilled to have Zola join our coaching staff,” Women’s Track and Field Head Coach Alan Connie said. “She has had one of the most remarkable careers in the annals of women’s cross country/track and field. She will undoubtedly have a very positive influence on our student-athletes.”

The men's track & field program will host over 20 schools on Friday and Saturday for the Clemson Relays, the first meet of the outdoor season. Some of the notables include regional foe Georgia as well as Big Ten schools Minnesota and Wisconsin, presumably enjoying the spring break weather in the Southeast.

The ETSU track and field team had an outstanding day at the Furman Invitational Saturday, as 14 Buccaneer athletes claimed titles in their respective events, while collecting 18 titles overall. The men brought home 11 titles and the women came away with seven.
