Heidi Magill, an All-American middle distance runner on the track and an NCAA All-Mountain Region performer in cross country at BYU, is transferring to the University of Tennessee. She will be able to compete for the Big Orange beginning in the fall and will have two years of eligibility remaining at UT.

The University of Tennessee women’s track & field team scored in three events on the first day of the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, including top-three efforts in the 200-meter dash and distance medley relay, putting the Lady Volunteers in third place Saturday after seven events scored at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Tennessee has had several nicknames, but the most popular is “The Volunteer State.” The nickname originated during the War of 1812, in which the volunteer soldiers from Tennessee, serving under Gen.
