Nathan Brigham wasn't sure what to expect at Sunday’s KeyBank Vermont City Marathon. But by the end of his 26.2 miles, Brigham, 25, knew two things: His time of 2 hours and 29.09 minutes was impressively quick for a marathon debut and, perhaps just as important, he now holds his family’s bragging rights.

Nice debut marathon by former Mt. Blue High runner Jeff Howley at last Sunday's Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, Vt. Howley, 25, ran 2 hours, 32 minutes and 20 seconds and finished fifth overall, one place behind Byrne Decker, 38, of Yarmouth (2:31:01).
