Williams, the defending Class 3A state champion in the 100 meters, 200 and long jump, turned in a state-best clocking of 11.76 seconds in winning the 100 in a four-team meet. She bettered the previous state best this season, set by Meagan Ferguson of Lake Washington, by .34 of a second.
Watson takes three firsts at track and field meet

Chantea Watson came up big for Port Angeles, taking the top spot in three events in Thursday's triple-dual Narrows League track and field meet.
Watson took first place in the 100 meters (12.9 seconds), 200 meters (26.6) and the 400 meters (1:01.40).

Defending U.S. women's short and long course champions Shalane Flanagan and Colleen De Reuck, and men's reigning 4 km champion Charlie Gruber, will take on America's best this weekend at the 2005 USA Cross Country Championships and World Cross Country Team Trials. America's finest cross country runners, including defending women's short course champion Shalane Flanagan and defending long course champion Colleen De Reuck, will compete February 12-13 at the 2005 USA Cross Country Championships and World Cross Country Team Trials. The Championships will take place at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash.
On November 11, 1889, Washington became the 42nd state to enter the Union. It is the only state named for a president. Washington was nicknamed “The Evergreen State” by C.T. Conover, pioneer Seattle realtor and historian, for its abundant evergreen forests. The nickname was adopted by the Legislature in February, 1893.
